Hypnosis and weight loss
Many people struggle to lose excess weight, and because they feel so upset about the way they look and feel, they can end up resorting to a whole host of different diets and exercise regimes. Invariably, the weight they do lose goes back on and they abandon the exercise routines.
It is a fact that whilst diets can help people to lose weight, they fail on two counts. Firstly, maintaining the weight loss can be difficult, and secondly, there are generally underlying psychological reasons for the weight gained. It can be very difficult to lose weight and to maintain the weight loss when our ‘head is not in the right place’. This can be particularly true when we are stressed for example because when we are in a state of stress, we can have a chemical imbalance in our brain that can cause weight gain.
There are four major chemicals in the brain that need to be ‘in balance’ to help with weight loss. These are Dopamine, Acetylcholine, GABA, and Serotonin.
- Dopamine allows us to stay focused, energized, and motivated. It keeps us from procrastinating and allows us to feel enjoyment from the world around us.
- Acetylcholine is another energy producing brain chemical. It is mainly involved in processing speed of the brain. People lacking in this chemical will often crave fat since fat is a rich source of choline, one of the building blocks of acetylcholine.
- GABA is a relaxing brain chemical. It gives us the ability to quickly shut down and relax. People low in GABA often seek out starchy foods but are often content eating anything as long as there is a lot of it.
- Serotonin is another one of the relaxing chemicals in the brain. Serotonin is a neurotransmitter that impacts how we feel about ourselves.. People who have balanced serotonin wake up, look in the mirror and like what they see. Low serotonin often manifests as cravings for starches and salt like bread, pasta, and chips.
Hypnotherapy can more than ‘DOUBLE’ the success of traditional weight loss methods. This is because it has access to the subconscious mind. Hypnotherapy can reduce stress and relax the mind, allowing the positive chemicals in your brain to become more balanced.
We get you to focus on the positive aspects of your life. This gives you the ability to take back control and re-programme your brain with the choices and behaviours that you want to make for positive physical and emotional change.
